The short-sighted political leadership at the national level right from the time of India’s independence, has been following such unimaginative and myopic politics both at the domestic and the foreign fronts that now Bharat is faced with extremely difficult issues of vital importance. The overwhelming victory of the Maosists in Nepal is an ominous sign. Leadership of political parties of whatever hue may wholeheartedly or halfheartedly welcome the election results, because democracy based on adult franchise has become a sacred cow.
