In our happenings section, we have workshop on Capacity building for Adaption of technology, training programme on cost effective bio-manure as well as biogas plant. In the ‘Green Rameshwaram’ project, we have tree plantation at public places by the NSS students as well as by the community, social engineering at the remote place of Dhanushkodi and different works carried out for the Revival of traditional water bodies. You will be happy to see the different stakeholders including local panchayat joining hands in revitalizing the ancient teerthams.

18th century Rameswaram marvel getting new life

Mohabeer Dharmasala in Rameswar am once provided shelter to thou sands of pilg rims visiting Rameswaram -the island in Gulf of Mannar known for its spirituality , natural beauty and cultural ethos. Unfortunately, this 18th-century building fell into ruin due to lack of care and maintenance. A group of heritage enthusiasts is now giving it a facelift. "Architecturally unique with exquisite domes at the entrance, this building can be an attraction for not just pilgrims but also tourists visiting Rameswaram.

VKNARDEP Oct Month Newsletter

This month newsletter we bring you two panels from Gramodaya Park that explain the importance of traditional water harvesting and water management systems which exist throughout South India. The Traditional water bodies (TWB) which we are renovating as part of the Green Rameshwaram projects are part of this larger systems. The principles behind these systems are explained in these panels. They should be understood to realize the context and importance of the renovation work that is being carried out by VK-nardep in Rameshwaram.

JanJanti Netrutva Sammelan at Kanyakumari float=On the Occasion of Mananeeya Eknathji JanmaShati Parva, an All India Janjati Netrutva Sammelan was organised at kanyakumari from 14-17 Sept 2015. The theme was “Sanskriti aur Vikas Saath-Saath - Hum Karenge Ek Saath”.

Two theerthams found in Rameswaram island“It is big enough to bathe temple elephants” : Vivekananda Kendra, which is working on ‘Green and Clean Rameswaram’ project, has discovered two ‘theerthams’ (venerated waterbodies) — Chinnatharavai Bramha Gundam, popularly known as ‘Bramha theertham,’ and Parasuramar theertham in Rameswaram island.

Asmita Conference started at Kanyakumari

160 leaders of 23 Janjatis from ​nine states ​of the country - Arunachal Pradesh​,​ Assam, Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Madhya​ Pradesh, Jharkhand​, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh​ ​arrived here for a 3​-​day Janajati Netr​u​t​v​a Sammelan. This conference will continue till 17 of September.

The year long program Mananeeya Eknathji Janma Shati Parva has aim to strengthen the work in terms of Qualitative & Quantitative area. Vivekananda Kendra is a thought movement as envisaged by Ma. Eknathji, having various magazine in 6 languages.
